Chuppah Cover Art Square Instructions
We are creating out own unique chuppah cover with art from our friends and family. The chuppah symbolizes the Jewish home and is the canopy under which the couple gets married. Use permanent fabric markers. Draw an image related to a garden, mountains, forest scene. It is possible to put a picture under the white fabric and trace an image or it can be done free hand. Sign or initial you creation but don't put other words on the image. We understand that you are traveling a long way to be with us. Thank you. Below are some things to consider when planning your trip.
Bring your passport.
Hotels: We are staying at the Chateau Victoria Hotel and Suites, 740 Burdett Ave, Victoria, BC, V8W1B2, Canada. To reserve rooms call 1-800-663-5891 or email [email protected]. Ask for the Goldstein/Burnham Wedding block or use confirmation number 214701. The rooms have one king bed or two queen beds @ the rate of CN$ 235.00 + 17.16% taxes and fees per night. Suites are CN$ 322.00 + taxes and fees per night. The hotel is holding 10 rooms until 45 days prior to Aug 18th.
The Quality Inn Downtown Inner Harbour, Victoria is also nearby.
Current Exchange Rate is US$ 1 = CN$ 1.26.
Wedding: The wedding and reception will take place at Congregation Emanu-El Synagogue 1461 Blanshard Street, Victoria, B.C. V8W 2J3 Canada on Sunday, August 19th at 11 am. It is about a 10 minute walk from the hotel to the synagogue. Chabad is about a 40 minute walk from the hotel.
Everyone is welcome to Saturday morning services at Congregation Emanu-El and a celebratory Kiddish lunch to follow.
Things to Do within walking distance of the hotel include: British Columbia Parliament Building, Miniature World, Victoria Bug Zoo, and Royal BC Museum. There is more information on tourism at https://www.tourismvictoria.com including whale watching (best season is April - October).
Airport: The Victoria, BC (YYJ) airport is about a 30 minute drive from downtown and easy to get to on commercial airlines. For more fun there is a seaplane flight from Seattle to Victoria or the Victoria clipper (a hydrofoil for pedestrians only).
